it's competitive but pretty easy if you have the right test scores/grades. like most big state schools, they dont care as much about extracurriculars and essays. i got a free ride with 33 ACT, 1490 sat's(800M, 690V)and a 3.7 gpa. i also sent em my sat 2's even thought they're not required cos i did really well on them(perfect in math, bio, chem, a 780 in physics and a 700 writing). had to go cos my parents arent that well off financially and didnt get a good enough financial aid package from my first choice private school.

GET GOOD HIGH SCHOOLDec 10 2004Journalism
GET GOOD HIGH SCHOOL GRADES! UF is very selective. Make sure you get that SAT/ACT score up, along with a good GPA. And take some tough classes in high school, too.
SAT: 1240 Male
Perfect verbal SATAug 22 2004Philosophy
Perfect verbal SAT. Good high school GPA. They could care less about anything else, unless you're a minority (and that unfairly includes hispanics from Miami) or an exceptional athlete or, as often is the case, both.
ACT: 31 SAT: 1430 Male

Granted I got in to UF in 1989, but I applied for the Summer which was not as competitive. I don't know how I'd get in now since it looks like you have to have very high grades and SAT/ACT scores! I just hope UF stays "wellrounded" and not into a college for all geeks!
SAT: 1100 Female
1) studied hard and got bestMay 17 2004Physical Therapy/Exercise Science
1) studied hard and got best grades possible
2) took a challenging AP/advanced course of study in HS
3) attached a personal statement to my admissions application even though one was not requested -- felt I needed to try to let them know I was
4) was "picky" who I asked to write recommendations
5) did extra volunteer and school based activities
